A little bit about us.

Let's start with the name of our camp Buffelkraal.

Buffelkraal is translated to 'Buffalo-corral'

The Buffalo's started with my fathers love for Buffalo's and our dream to own our own hunting lodge.

So when we bought our property there was an old corral.

Our town Marken used to be a area with lots of wildlife but everyone farmed cattle at home and planted crops like beans and even Cotton wool.

There is a few Interesting things about Buffalo's that make them a great metaphor for our family operated hunting camp. Buffalo's walk in large herds  consisting of females, calves, breeding bull and younger bulls. They also protect the herd by walking together. Then there is also the females who 'vote', yes 'vote' which way the herd must walk.

Our camp is perfectly described as a Corral where we all come together at night as a herd!
